On February 13, 2025, Hua Hin’s Mayor, Noppon Wuttikul, officially launched the “Waste Management at the Source” program aimed at promoting community involvement in waste reduction. The initiative, which aligns with the principles of a circular economy, encourages residents to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste, ultimately contributing to environmental sustainability.
The program, organized by the Public Health and Environmental Division of Hua Hin Municipality, focuses on educating local residents on how to manage waste at its source, in line with circular economy concepts. It emphasizes reducing waste and maximizing the use of resources. For example, used plastic straws are being repurposed into bed mattresses for bedridden patients. Residents are also encouraged to adopt the 3Rs principles—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—to better manage resources responsibly.
The project aims not only to reduce the volume of waste generated but also to enhance Hua Hin’s image as an environmentally-conscious city. The initiative features training and seminars, with Siraporn Harnnarong, Chairperson of Hua Hin’s Circular Economy Learning Center, serving as a speaker during the event. Other attendees included local officials such as Deputy Mayor Phailin Kongphan and Pramot Ngamleu, an upcoming member of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Administrative Organization.
