Sea Turtle Nest Discovered on Koh Laan Beach

Date:

On the morning of March 3, marine resource conservation officials conducted an inspection of sea turtle eggs discovered on Thian Beach, Koh Laan, located in Chonburi Province. The unexpected find generated excitement among both tourists and local observers, as the area is a well-known tourist destination and had not previously seen reports of sea turtle nesting.

This rare discovery is seen as a positive indicator for the local coastal ecosystem, with experts noting that such occurrences are infrequent in the region. In response, officials took immediate action to safeguard the eggs, relocating the nest away from areas where tourists set up beach beds and umbrellas. They also ensured that the eggs were moved out of zones prone to potential flooding from seawater. To further protect the nest, the area was cordoned off, and authorities appealed to tourists for cooperation in refraining from disturbing the site, in hopes of allowing the eggs to hatch in safety.

As the discovery is a significant event for both marine conservation efforts and tourism in the area, the public’s support in respecting the measures put in place is crucial to the success of this rare event.

Officials overseeing marine resource conservation were present to monitor the situation and ensure the protection of the nest.
