On May 5, 2025, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) announced it had settled a debt of approximately 37,476 million baht owed for operating and maintenance fees related to the Green Line electric train extensions. The move comes amid ongoing legal proceedings that continue to delay payment of an additional 37,245 million baht.
According to BMA spokesperson Ekwaranyu Amrapal, the city government has already paid 23,000 million baht for the installation of electrical and mechanical (E&M) systems for Extension Phase 2 of the Green Line. The payment was made to Krungthep Thanakom Company (KT), a BMA-owned subsidiary, using the 2024 supplementary budget. Ownership of the E&M system has since been officially transferred to BMA.
In addition, BMA has paid 14,476 million baht in operating and maintenance (O&M) debt to the Office of Administrative Execution as ordered by the Supreme Administrative Court on July 26, 2024. This amount pertains to BTS operations for Extension Phase 1 (from May 2019 to May 2021) and Phase 2 (from April 2017 to May 2021), with the payment made on December 26, 2024.
However, 12,245 million baht from a second lawsuit by BTS over services provided from June 2021 to October 2022 remains under review by the Administrative Court. A further 25,000 million baht tied to BTS operations after that period is currently unresolved, as the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has identified possible wrongdoing. Final approval from the NACC and the Office of the Attorney General is still pending before payment can be processed.
