PATTAYA, Thailand – A French national, identified as 44-year-old Yannick, was apprehended on Saturday, June 8, 2025, in Pattaya, Chonburi province, following his alleged involvement in the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl in Nong Khai. The suspect had reportedly fled to the coastal city after the initial discovery of the crime in Thailand’s northeastern province.

The arrest was a collaborative effort between the Nong Khai Provincial Investigation Unit, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Saksit Boonserm, and the Chonburi Immigration Police. Authorities acted on an arrest warrant issued by the Nong Khai Provincial Court. Yannick was taken into custody outside a condominium located on Sukhumvit Pattaya 59 Alley in Nong Prue Sub-district, Bang Lamung District.
The investigation began when Nong Khai Provincial Social Development and Human Security officers, working alongside provincial police, rescued the 13-year-old victim who was reportedly held captive in a room in Nong Khai. The young girl informed investigators that her mother had an acquaintance with Yannick through a local beer bar where her mother was employed. It was subsequently revealed that the mother had allegedly facilitated a meeting for the girl to provide sexual services to the French man at a hotel in Nong Khai.
Further inquiry into the case revealed financial transactions indicating that money had been transferred from Yannick to the girl’s mother. Following the issuance of the arrest warrant, authorities ascertained that the suspect had relocated to the Pattaya area, prompting the coordinated effort for his capture. He has since been transported back to Nong Khai province to face legal proceedings.
Initial charges against Yannick include jointly taking away a child under fifteen years of age from their father, mother, guardian, or caretaker for indecent purposes without reasonable cause, and committing indecent acts against a child not over thirteen years of age who is not his spouse, irrespective of the child’s consent. As reported by Khaosod English, the Nong Khai Provincial Investigation Police intend to broaden their inquiry to identify and prosecute all individuals connected to this case.
