Ezy Airlines Prepares to Launch Betong-Hat Yai Route

Date:

Ezy Airlines is set to begin commercial flights on the Betong–Hat Yai route by the end of June 2025, following preparations by the airline and ongoing regulatory approval from Thai aviation authorities.

Ezy Airlines, operated by M-Landarch Co Ltd, has moved to establish its presence at Betong Airport in Yala Province, marking a significant step toward resuming regular commercial air service to the region. The airline plans to begin scheduled flights between Hat Yai in Songkhla and Betong by late June 2025.

The company has secured an Air Operating License (AOL) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and is currently in the final stages of obtaining an Air Operator Certificate (AOC). CAAT officials have indicated that the certificate is expected to be granted before the end of the month, which would make Ezy Airlines the first of nine newly proposed Thai carriers to be certified for commercial operation.

The remaining eight carriers are undergoing review by CAAT, with evaluations focused on business viability, financial readiness, and operational safety. Several of the proposed airlines are still sourcing aircraft and pilots, contributing to delays in their certification processes.

Ezy Airlines had originally aimed to launch operations in late 2024 but faced delays due to the unavailability of aircraft and the pending AOC. In response, the airline requested an extension from CAAT, which was approved in February 2025, moving the deadline for actual flight operations to June 30, 2025.

Currently, the airline has acquired a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX, registered as HS-EZY, which seats approximately 12 passengers. The aircraft is undergoing final modifications ahead of the route launch.

Betong Airport, the 29th airport under the Department of Airports, is now equipped and staffed to support commercial operations. Although it has not hosted regular passenger flights since Nok Air ceased service on the Don Mueang–Betong route in October 2022, the airport has remained active with military, government, and private flights.

During the current fiscal year (October 2024–June 2025), the airport has handled approximately 50 flights, including 26 special test flights by Ezy Airlines, alongside military, government, and private air traffic.

Senior officials from M-Landarch Co Ltd and the Department of Airports have confirmed readiness on both the infrastructure and operational sides, supporting the anticipated relaunch of regular flights.
