Tomorrowland to Host First Asian Festival in Chonburi

Date:

Belgium’s renowned electronic dance music festival, Tomorrowland, will hold its first-ever Asian edition in Chonburi, Thailand, in December 2026. The decision follows extensive discussions and reflects the festival’s expansion strategy into new markets, with an estimated investment exceeding one billion baht.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) confirmed that Chonburi was chosen due to its capacity to accommodate large-scale events and its accessibility through major airports, including U-Tapao, Suvarnabhumi, and Don Mueang. The area also offers sufficient hotel capacity and supporting infrastructure to manage the influx of international visitors.

Organizers and Thai officials are currently negotiating the level of government involvement, which may include incentives from Thailand’s Board of Investment. While most of the financial backing will come from Tomorrowland and private partners, limited government support is being considered in exchange for the festival’s potential economic benefits. The anticipated budget is approximately 10 million US dollars annually.

Beyond the festival itself, the project includes the creation of an Event Academy aimed at improving the capabilities of local businesses in hosting large entertainment events. This initiative is part of a broader, long-term agreement expected to span at least five years.

The inaugural festival in Chonburi is projected to draw hundreds of thousands of attendees over two to three days. In line with the model used in Belgium, exclusive travel packages will be offered to enhance visitor experience. The announcement was made by Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the TAT, alongside organizers and local stakeholders.
