Ministry of commerce decided to maintained instant noodle price

Date:

To continue alleviating consumer burdens, the Ministry of Commerce has confirmed that the retail price of instant noodles will be maintained.

Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit stated that the ministry has not allowed any producers to raise retail prices for instant noodles and that the price cap will remain in place for as long as possible. He went on to say that while the ministry sympathizes with producers who are facing higher production costs, he urged them to keep the current price in order to help the general public.

The minister also stated that recent reports of major brands raising instant noodle prices are only for wholesale, which will reduce retail profits without negatively impacting consumers. The retail price per packet will remain 6 baht.

Instant noodles are one of 52 products and services on the state price control list that manufacturers must report on and seek approval to adjust rates for. Food, agricultural products, construction materials, paper, medicine, paper, and petroleum are all included on the list.
