Thailand and Japan pledge economic and environmental cooperation

On their visit to Thailand on March 15, 2023, the executives of the Japan-Thailand Trade and Economic Committee, Suzuki Yoshihisa and Suzuki Jun, met with Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha. Both sides underlined their intention to expand their cooperation in agriculture, clean energy, trade, and investment.

They agreed that Japan and Thailand are transitioning to sustainable energy in order to achieve carbon neutrality and zero greenhouse gas emissions. The Prime Minister emphasized that the government is now developing a national energy strategy to transform the country’s automotive sector into a clean electric vehicle industry. As a result, Thailand endorses Japan’s suggestions to promote trade and investment in energy technology.
