The South Korean embassy in Thailand verified that the government does not bar visitors from certain sections of Thailand from visiting South Korea. The embassy issued the statement in reaction to incorrect rumors that Seoul was restricting Thais from certain areas of the kingdom.
Anucha Burapachaisri, the government’s spokesperson, recently addressed concerns that South Korea was excluding Thais from particular locations from entering the nation.
According to Anucha, the South Korean embassy in Thailand acknowledged that such allegations were false and contrived. The embassy advises citizens to be cautious when getting information and to only believe trustworthy sources. The representative also advised individuals to double-check the facts to avoid misunderstanding and potential injury.
He also stated that South Korean authorities had permitted illegal Thai laborers to return to Thailand voluntarily from November 7, 2022 to February 28, this year. Individuals who reported themselves and returned willingly were not fined and were not barred from returning to South Korea.
Illegal laborers who did not report during the waiver period and those detained during crackdowns would face a 30 million won penalties (almost 800,000 baht). They would also face a semi-ban on re-entry.
